I think I'm in the minority, but I had some problems with mine on my 01. I broke it sitting on it and never got it fixed. I say if you even think you want one, just get it. You'll regret it if you don't. And by the way no problems until I broke it. LoL

I think they are great for venting hot air when you park your ride, other than that its like a green house without the shade. I always had one but didn't get it with my 2011 FX4 SCREW. I probably would have but the dealer was out of FX4's with the luxury package so I just got the Plus Package. It does makes a great turret for mounting a machine gun for Zombie Apocalypse!

Sounds like they are reliable. Any issues with moonroofs causing more road noise/vibration, or noise from rain? I don't expect something to be perfect, there's usually a trade off, just trying to get all the insight I can before I buy.
-Also, do all F150 moonroofs come clear (not tinted)?

Thanks!

I've had power moonroofs in the last 4 cars (2 Fords , a Pontiac and a Nissan) I've had and T Bar roofs on the 2 before them. Never had any leaks but after 8 years the roof on the Pontiac started to chatter on opening. A well placed squirt of lube cured that.

As for the Screw, I will be getting one and so long as head room isn't an issue for you then go for it!

Moonroofs are not new, they've been around for decades so I wouldn't worry too much about leaking.

I've had sunroofs/moonroofs in all my cars. They're not any louder than regular cars/trucks. The only downside is that they will take some headroom but as others have said, it's not an issue in a F150 unless you're Andre the Giant.

I believe all moonroofs are tinted.

The moonroofs are tinted, I have had several vehicles with them, my wife won't have a vehicle with out. I used to complain in the 90's because they were alittle louder (road noise) and would always shut the cover. The last 2 vehicles she has had since 04 and a 10 they are so quiet you wouldnt know the difference.

It wasn't a major selling point for me but this is the first one I have had on my vehicle, and I love it, I dont think I would ever go without it now. Like others said if you even considering, you'll be more than pleased with it.

Default Noise level

Although not exactly the same vehicles, I have an 03 Expy with no moonroof and my 04 and 09 with moonroofs are definitely quieter inside than the Expy. Interestingly, the 04 is quieter still than my 09, unfortunately.

Regarding hot summers, I always keep the cover shut when it's sunny as even with the tint, the you definitely can still feel the heat from the sun.

Which is why I only open it on cloudy days or at night; hence the name "moonroof" I guess!

As a former auto tech, I'll never own a moonroof because they cause more problems than they are worth. At any-rate, when I ordered my Lariat, I had to pay $4.00 more to not get a moonroof because of a promotion that Ford was running at the time.

I have one on my '11 Lariat and I love it, serves as a vent while parked and can double as a turret for driving through the rough parts of town or in the event of a zombie attack!
