Question Power Deployable Running Boards Question/Mod?

Hi. I am new to the forum and have not yet posted ics of my truck because it has been covered in snow and salt up here in the north east since I purchased it a few weeks ago. It is a black 2013 Limited (pics when I can get it cleaned and get some decent pics).

I have a question regarding the Power Deployable Running Boards. I know that they default to "Auto" and you can change them to "Out" only until you start to drive or restart the truck. This is kind of useless for me because I have two young kids and the doors are constantly being opened and closed with the running boards constantly going in and out whenever we are together. It is a real pain and pretty annoying. I would like to keep them out except when the vehicle is in motion. Does anyone know of a mod or a way to do this? I have searched the forum but have not found anything. Everyone seems to live with the limitation of the way they are programed. I do not want to do anything that would require a switch because I am leasing the truck and don't know if I will buy it out. A software mod would be preferable. Thanks.

I think the only reason they have a OUT option is when cleaning the truck. When i first got the truck i set them to OUT assuming they would stay out and no go, so im doubting there is a way to make them stay out since they are a luxury item and designed to be tucked away.

Default Keeping the boards out PERMANENTLY

Have you tried just unplugging the motors when in the OUT position? This should do the trick. Doubtful they'll retract with no power.

The OP may no longer be interested in the topic, but the topic lives forever. Though this post may be old the information remains current to someone. So don't be daft and insinuate that one should not read or post to an old thread. "Good grief."

Default 09-14 what’s the motor for 15?

Wil the common motor on eBay fit in a 15? It says only to 14 but what the difference anyone know? Mine looks the same electrical connection the same I have my motor out on my work bench from my 15 and it is seized just wondering if I should buy the one on eBay and chance it?
