I had an 07 5.4 and traded it in for and ECO FX2. I love my ECO. However, I traded it in because I was having problems with it. After spending a few thousand on that 5.4, I gave up trying to repair it and decided to trade it in. I also did owe another year of payments on it. Now that I have My new F150 I couldn't be any happier. I say go for it and do it. Just make sure you get a good deal. I have a friend that was a car salesman. He advised me the best time to buy a new car is on the last few days of the month. Dealers have a monthly quota to make. If it is not made nearing the end of the month they will give you a good deal. Also, have two local dealers battle eachother for your buy. He also advised me to not tell them of your trade in until after price is negotiated, (I didn't do this). My FX2 was a left over 2011, (never been titled). If you can find one of these you will save alot. I hope to see pics of your new ECO soon.

I traded my 2010 screw xlt w the 5.4 and couldn't be happier with my 12 EB FX4 I think you would be the same going from an08 4 speed trans and the motor plus all of the other advancements in the truck make it a no brainier ESP when you said the added 150 doesn't bother you

I too traded in a 2010 XLT 5.4 for a 2012 EB Lariat Plus.....not only for the engine, but for all the Lariat extras......that said, the EB is an incredible engine and makes the truck truly fun to drive.
There is nothing like jumping into the turbos a bit on a freeway on ramp and merging effortlessly at 75 mph......then seeing the car that was behind you on the ramp 1/4 mile back. The acceleration with the EB is so effortless and quiet that it is truly deceptively fast!

From a financial standpoint, the worst deal in history. You'll pay 150 more a month and extend the years of payments because your gas mileage is not up to your current liking. You won't ever get that 150 back in gas a month.

If you simply want a shiny new truck and can afford it, go for it but there is no financial justification. You could say that you have a shiny new warranty though.

I currently have an 11 SCAB Eco with about 7K on the clocks. 3.55LS with standard wheel and tire combo in the winter (northern Illinois/Southern WI) I get 13-15 city/20 highway. Summer 17-18city/22highway (highway is 65-70mph). Towing our 4300lb bass boat with gear and 3 adults is 15-16. (again 65-70). Enclosed 7500lb trailer is 12-15 depending on wind. I can't complain I think all of that is pretty good for a 6300lb truck that makes 360hp and 420lbft! I also drive pretty conservatively though.

I agree you won't make it up in gas. You will make up some in gas especially what he is saying he's getting maybe 20-40 dollars a month. But even though it is going on 6 years old and one costly repair could serve him a years worth of the added amount on his payment. I say this because my good buddy kept on blowing off getting a new truck because then he would have a payment it was a F-350, but every 6-8 weeks he was putting a good amount of money into repairs. Finally this past thurs he got his xlt screw 6.5 bed with max tow. He absolutely loves the truck. Of course hates the payment but also has the warranty where he will not be out paying large somes of money every time something breaks.

I was in the same situation as you were in 2 weeks ago. I had a 2010 king ranch with the 5.4 and traded it in for a 12 fx4 eco boost metallic candy red and love it. It's a way better truck IMO

Quick Reply: Possibly upgrading. From 5.4 to Ecoboost...
