Ok got my truck back tonight. Noise is still there. When I would hear this click/snap noise the sound was hard to pin point. Sometimes it would sound like it was coming from the rear and other times from the front. When fords had it the first time he said it was from the slip joint to more the rear area. Today they said they found out where the noise was coming from; after further inspection and changing drive shafts temporally. That in fact it is my right exhaust y pipe flange where it meets the manifold. The one bolt slightly lost torque. But the sound was still there, they said fords tech line requested an exhaust alignment to be done and inspect the flanges after disconnection. So now this moves from Warranty drive line work, to non warranty work that I am not going to pay them to going any further.

That's my update and for now conclusion. Hope any of this was useful information.

What a crock of sh*t "conclusion" from Ford. I hope to hell this isn't the answer they give me. I have an aftermarket exhaust on my truck so I'm sure that won't go over well with their warranty pea-brains....

Bought my truck new, 2011, 4x4, XLT, Ecoboost approx. 6 months ago. Been driving Ford pickups since '91 and notice something just didn't seem right when gears were shifting.
Took it into dealership and they said there definitely was an update for transmission that needed to be installed.
Shifting seems much better now, although, and it's been there since I bought the truck, when shifting into reverse, a "CLANK" sound happens. I also told them about this, which apparently was not an issue to them. Will be going back, to at least document my concerns.

Tighten the lug nuts? Really ?

Really I was getting the click sound on my truck going from park to drive or reverse to drive and this is what fixed it for me.

We all have miles in the teens with these problems from the drive shaft, that is irrelevant, i think your talking about the tranny park pin.

Default Clunk or clicking sound

My truck 2012 FX4 Eco developed this noise only when driving in reverse, and my situation my driveway has a 6 deg incline so when I go in reverse up the hill I hear a popping noise from the rear. The dealership sent out the suspension tech out with sensors on the rearend and headset to listen for the noise. He moved the sensors (microphones) to the differential where he determined the noise was coming from. There is a service message out effective 1 June2012 and the number is 22384. This message just stats the obvious that customers experience the noise and they are working with the engineers at Ford to get it resolved.

Default Popping in the rear end when going from forward to reverse

I have a 2013 super crew xlt 4x4. 5000 miles on it no but the problem started around 3500 miles. Clicking / popping when going from forward to reverse and vise versa. Then clicks a few more times when the torque is applied. Took it to the dealer and they said it was a tsb on the slip yoke and used a different grease(thicker). problem is I didn't make it out of the lot and it was back. They said they had to order the part and 2 weeks later I take it bake. It does seem now that it is gone, however here is my question, they kept saying it was in the slip yoke on the drive shaft which the only on I can see is in the transfer case where the drive shaft is inserted. The invoice says they replaced the oil slinger shim seal which from my research goes in the rear end. (correct me if im wrong). Regardless it seems to be gone for now .
