Hmmm, I must have something messed up with mine then, I installed the bracket and solenoid but haven't wired it yet. I noticed a week ago my key isn't turning the lock.

I've used mine a few times, just to unlock the gate, without unlocking the rest of the truck.

Possibly, you have the "U" installed incorrectly around the lock mech. You shold be able to pop off the inspection panel and try and turn your key. Whatever is holding it up should be apparent.

I found that I needed to bend the Pop & Lock bracket slightly to keep the key lock from binding.
I also noticed that it would flex pretty significantly when activated.
The slight bend I had to make to free the binding now made it rattle against the inside of the tailgate.
That was easily fixed with a single hole drilled and a ziptie.

My 13 Supercab had the wires in the bundle in the driver's side door sill.
I wanted the tailgate to unlock on the first click.
The wire colors were as indicated in the instructions.

I used the hood release cable grommet since I had also run the Pop & Lock cable in some split loom along with the brake light wire for my cap and a feed for the cap light and power point.

When I did my ham radio install I did find plugs in the door sill area that I assume are for the wiring for the power running board option.

I'm curious if your kit came with two flat washers and if the install instructions had you add the two flat washers on the mounting bolt before you installed the bracket.

That is how mine was and I found it rather odd why they did this. I wonder if they received feedback about binding locks and the flat washers were their solution.

I can definitely hear my bracket rattle when I close the gate, I like your solution. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, mine had the washers and I used them.
I still had to bend the bracket slightly to fix the binding of the lock.

Does this allow you to hit the unlock button a set number of times and the tailgate falls down open or does it just lock and unlock the tailgate?

It only locks/unlocks the tailgate.

What mod allows you to lower the tailgate with the key fob?

I was going to do this at one point, but did not finish my research.

From memory you would need a PAC 7R7 trigger output module and one or more actuators with enough pull strength to pop the tailgate latch. I may look into this again - thx for reminding me.
