If you bought a stand alone actuator and fabricated a bracket, you should be alright. The pop and lock bracket sits too low and may bind against the tailgate locking mechanism. The washers (put on the stud prior dropping in the bracket) give the actuator arm the right amount of clearance to operate properly. It is pretty obvious when you see it in person.
