I removed my tailgate badge today to paint it. It looks like it is a 2 piece badge, but it is near impossible to take apart.

I had originally thought the 2 piece were on 2012 and up, but others have reports having them on 2011's, which is what I have, with an August 2011 build date.

Here is a pic of the back. The inside of the 0 pops out no problem, but the black insert comes free in some spots, but is really stuck in others.

For those that have the 2 piece, is this what it looks like? And if so any tricks on how to separate the 2 would be appreciated.

Yes you do, take a small precision screwdriver to release the tabs that hold it in.

Could you point me in the direction of the tabs or how many there are? I really could not find what is holding the two together.

My 2011 had a 2 piece tailgate emblem and 1 piece fender emblems.

Aww dude, you just totally ruined my day!

I figured I do the gate badge first as I only had a little spare time today. Was going to do the fender badges later this week.

Guess i'll get the painters tape ready.
