Nothing abnormal about that fuel economy, speed is always going to be expensive. Drive your truck, there's nothing wrong here.

A) If I gave a hoot about MPGs, I'ed drive something different. B) MPGs don't bother me except when gas prices go over 4 bucks. C) Maybe Toyota will bring out a truck version of the prius. D) Once again: These trucks weigh almost three(3) Tons, are twenty(20) feet long and seven(7) feet high with the frontal area of a small house-WTF did you think you were buying, anyways?. There- rant complete. BTW, your truck gets a little better mileage than most f150s are getting- quit complaining and live with it- or dump it, but don't expect much different from the competition- you'll be sadly disappointed.

My truck has 24,000+ on the odometer. In the Ozark " mountains" generally see about 18 mpg hwy, 14.5 mpg city. On a recent trip to the Gulf coast on flat land we towed a 6000 lb trailer. Average 9.4 mpg towing through hills of Arkansas and down through the flatlands of Mississippi. We parked the trailer and drove to Louisiana on flat highways. At 70 mph, averaged 20.4 mpg. I am pretty happy with these numbers and the truck hums like a quality sewing machine. I drive like a Grandpa. Hope these numbers provide you with some perspective.

I'm not trying to complain about what I'm getting. I was mostly just wanting to see how it compares to similarly set up trucks. I also have noticed that 89 octane (what I usually run off of the farm) makes a noticeable increase in mileage. I can't put an exact number on it however. Maybe I was just trying to come up with a justifiable excuse for a tuner?

I have a 2014 F150 Lariat 4x4 Supercrew (short bed) with the 5.0, which I purchased new in August 2015.

I have put about 2,000 miles on it since the purchase, (it spends a lot of time setting in the airport parking deck). I drive around 40% city and 60% highway.

I am running an Airaid CAI, Borla ATAK cat back exhaust and 5-Star 91-octane performance tune. I also switched to a full synthetic engine oil (RP 5w-20 HPS) at 1,250 miles.

I have averaged 15.7 mpg (calculated by me), over these first 2,000 miles.

Now that I have settled on which tune I will use, my mileage will improve as the engine continues to break-in. I expect my overall mileage will finally settle in around 16 mpg, which I do not think is too bad for the way I drive and for such a heavy truck with four-wheel drive.

I'm getting close to 16mpg or 17.8L/100kms if you're a Canuck. People tend to forget about the winter gas thing a lot. My step dad did and I had to throw the weight of this thing into the equation.
