So who's figured out how to install something like this in the non-flow-through STX console?

i have used those when doing cup lighting on comaros. i had great results with them.

Anyone use one for the footwell ambient lighting?
they are small and project a ton of light

Yeah, 2.2 should sandwich without any issues, just keep away from making very sharp bends with the el wire

I pulled this pic off a truck for sale video, is the console you have like this one?

I'd be interested to see if the chrome trim from the flow through consoles would fit on top of that cup holder area. If so, you could possibly use it to cover the el wire or led tubing to create the same look.

The leds that Mecha linked to are great for hiding and creating a good glow if there is a lip or something in that cupholder style. I've used them in other projects and have been very happy with them.

Yes that's the style I have. There's no lip to this one, but it's the same general shape as the others but post #103 on page 11 appears that the non-flow through cup holders mount differently.

Clips underneath just snap it into place.

Big open hole.

searching around the net, just came across this guy:

could be used to sandwich the el wire/led tubing relatively cleanly.....

another idea/option is to do something like in this thread....basically use led penlights or strips and drill holds around the diameter to create the look of a ring.

That guy has a good write up on his setup

So I bought the kit from f150leds.com. Tried installing last night and either got a bad set of lights or can't figure out what wires to hardware to beside the shifter. I have 2 blues(a thin and a thicker) and 3 black (2 thin and one thicker). I tried using the quick connectors they supply and tried ever combination of the blue for positive and black for negative and couldn't get anything. Then I ended up with a cut ground wire and had to splice it all back together. Anyone have any input on the easier wiring
