Default Pooched Tie-Rod End

Just the other day I noticed my 2012 screw 4x4 had a worn out tie rod end. I can move the wheel side to side without much effort and without jacking up the truck. 19500 km on the odo. Anyway I had my wife call the nearest dearlership today as I work all day away from home and phones. They were rude and said she would have to pay for the part if that in deed was not the problem( she does not know the cost of a tie rod end and they would not tell her) so no service appointment.
My question is should a just call roadside and have them tow the dam truck there? Not sure I won't my wife and baby driving the thing at all. Thoughts.
By the way this is the seventh time into service in less than 20000km. I love my truck but this is the first time it's *^#=\€ me.

With all due respect...how has your truck #$%@ed you?

Its a tie rod...what do they cost? $20-$30? It takes about 10 minutes to replace...count the threads, mark the new one and spin it on. I usually get mine within 5% accuracy and take it for an alignment. Depending on where and how you drive it, maybe a few bumps, potholes, etc...tie rods and ball joints are going to go...they can sometimes take a beating. Just like brake pads, they wear out and are usually not part of a warranty claim.

I would use this as an opportunity to upgrade to a tougher grade product. Good Luck.

No lift ,no towing it gets treated very good.
I have a hard time thinking this won't be covered.
Would you send your wife and two kids on a 200km drive to the dealership with this problem?
