Yes.

Now maybe you understand why I had the reaction I did to the subject and how it was being approached.

I cannot tell you how many instances, over the years, in this state alone, where this has been a big problem, not only for the public, but also for law enforcement.

Moreover, most large departments would not let an employee use untested and unapproved emergency equipment in their personal or work vehicle, due to the issues of liability, as well as the possibilty of inappropriate use of the equipment.

My secondary concern, was that in this public forum, with a lot of younger folks viewing, they may get the wrong impression, thinking that this is acceptable and 'cool' and then find themselves in an unfortunate situation.

Here too. Its at least big fine(if not more) for impersonating a police car.

That's insane, I've never heard of any volunteer fire fighter who doesn't have lights in their own vehicle. It's there so that they can get to the station quicker to save your life. If your state doesn't allow that, that's just plain stupid, and a risk to public health. Same applied to my counsin. It's so he can get to his job quicker to help the public. If people don't care, then they're in the wrong job. Rape?!! If your state is worried about your fireman and cops raping women, then they have much larger problems then who has lights in their cars. Guess there's a lot more screwed up states then I thought.

You do have to have a license to have lights with blue and red lenses anyhow. Most legitimate shops will not sell lenses in these colors without proper licenses and paper work.

firefighters cannot have both colors around here, they can only have one or the other, in fact they might be restricted to only one specific color but Im not 100percent sure. Only cops can have both.

Nor-Cal you do have a valid point about young people reading it, but you couldve made it more clear, No cop is gonna get in trouble for having both colors anywhere, but anyone who is not a cop definitely will, in every state.

I dont know about anyone else, but if I see some monkey with these on his dash, or a single color light on top trying to pull me over I aint stopping unless Im carrying.

In IN volunteer firefighters can only run blue lights in their personal vehicles. That being said blue lights don't mean squat. All it is saying is I'm a volunteer and please let me by. No legal ramifications if you don't, unlike police/EMS vehicles...

Well the good thing is these lights are really small like 2.5" big and don't put out much light. U can really tell they are novelty, I just bought them for shets and giggles.

I would LOVE to have the LED light bar in the front of the headliner but that's like 800 bux plus install! But then again, I don't like screaming I'm the popo off duty.

Not sure if this was meant to preach to me or not, but I was a volunteer firefighter so I understand trying to get to the station quickly. The depts I personally know about/have been with in AL don't allow it because there have been cases of the FFs using them to pull women over and rape them. The depts I personally know about/have been with in FL you don't just speed to the station when the tones go out. You have scheduled shifts you come for or you set aside time to stay at the station to run calls if they come in so the stations are pretty much staffed like a paid dept. FFs die needlessly every year rushing to the station to go. I was guilty of it when I first started, too. But those deaths are needless and end up creating another emergency instead of helping. Too many people would abuse it if they let every vol ff have lights on their personal vehicle. There are some stand-up FFs and stations, and there's some bad FFs and stations. I personally don't believe everyone should be given access to this stuff/allowed to use it
