Yep I can appreciate that, I got the LL with AWD because of the snow here, so it just goes to show, buy the configuration that best suits our needs....

FYI Lariats come with heated AND cooled front seats, and they also come with power everything

No beach in Nebraska unfortunately. I imagine if I was still in Jacksonville where there was sand other then on the roads in the winter it would make sense. Plus I work in IT now so it is a street truck that hauls little and off roads even less.

Mike you have the LL that doesn't have the 4x4 high setting? I have been wondering what the difference will be on snow between the two. I understand the concepts of each but have yet to AWD snow.

Sorry OP this is kind of a thread hijack.

Just to add another trim level to the conversation, we even contemplated & considered a king ranch...but the interior & exterior colors made that a no go!

I do have a 4h setting, but also have the standard awd, sorry about the lack of clarity in the post, since this Is my daily driver, and there is snow and ice on the ground for about 5 months I just more inclined to have a system I can set and drive and have the truck determine when it needs all 4 wheels to engage.... All my backwoods stuff where 4 low is needed is done with my Wrangler or 4 wheelers... Again sorry about that...

I hear that. But it also isn't really my style of truck either. There are stigma's (good or bad) with each trim level when you get up there. King Ranch (country), Limited (Street DD office worker), HD (I wouldn't buy a Harley bike so wouldn't drive the truck), Platinum (Individual that uses a truck for a truck but still like the creature comforts), Lariat is kind of the cross breed anymore between what people think trucks should be used for and what they are becoming in the urban environments. My 2¢

I have a feeling I will get flamed for saying that.

We looked at that trim as well, IIRC they also had the blonde wood grain :fugly:

I was very skeptical about getting the power running boards, figured it was more of a gimmick than anything. Using them on a daily basis now though, they are wonderful. Most running boards are too close to the cab (I'm tall and they get in the way and actually make it more difficult to get out), but the power boards are at the perfect distance.

The only feature I feel is completely useless for my needs, the rear heated seats.

For what I'm paying for my Lariat, I could have gotten a similar KR or Platinum. I do miss a few things from each but overall, I decided that loaded out the Lariat just looks better for me. It came down to what I had to have and what I couldn't stand, so I took a "base" lariat and built it up to what I wanted it to be. Guess what y'all, all are sweet trucks, all of em. Lined up next to each other, people will have a hard time picking since they are all fine trucks. Tell me more about this extra special sound deadener inside the Platinums only....I plan to add some dynomats to my new truck. Is it worth it?

I agree 100% on the running boards, they are very functional and when tucked with only that slim piece of chrome showing they look so much better!

It all depends on your area as well. Around the Dallas area, anything "above" the Lariat trim is for the office worker/DD/street. The FX4 trims are for the people who want to lift it and look like they take it offroad(and they never do), with a mix of people who actually use it for a work truck. Really, most trucks in the DFW area are for the status of having a truck, lol. While some have mentioned they almost never see a Platinum, they run rampant around here. The absolute most common trucks I see daily 1) King Ranch 2) Platinum 3) Lariat 4) FX4 It's rare to see any other trim level around here.
