Default Platinum power running boards install in non platinum truck

Has anybody been able to install the ford factory platinum power running boards in a non platinum truck? I've heard of it yet i can't seem to find a thread proving it. If someone can't post a link or share any info that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

What you heard about it wasn't a solution, just a welcome back to earth after you realize the cost to do so and then only if the programming would work.

Cheapest thing to do is put a set of Amp Research power boards on instead. They actually work better than oem.

Your opinion has been duly noted, thank-you.

Amp for the win. They do a sale and rebate at least once a year.

Still doesn't answer my question. I saw a 60's lifted ford truck with the platinum steps that came off his lowered platinum. Very cool. His only complaint was that both steps came down even if just the driver door was opened. I'm pretty sure i could figure it out myself. I just need the pin out for the plug. I'm pretty sure someone here has the answer. But thanks anyway.

Like mentioned by rnlcomp, it is too costly. I remember reading something about it but it didn't look like it was doable. Something with mounts or splicing the wires. I forget.

As for your 60's truck I'm putting money that it was all custom.

Good luck in your findings.

I believe someone on here used be amp harness and factory steps/motors, but in the end it'll still probably easier (and cheaper) to go with a set of amp's or bestops.

Wasn't an opinion, it's a fact. Been discussed many times on the forum, I even looked up all the parts as I wanted to do the same. Got a set of Amps instead.

I'll humor you, here is the part list and cost for OEM steps.

Right Step with motor
AL3Z-16450-C - $2,271.75

Left Step with motor
AL3Z-16451-A - $2168.50

Mounting Hardware -
AL3Z-16451-A need 16 of those at $2.08 each = $33.28
9L3Z-16N454-A need 4 of those at $20.38 each = $81.52

Wiring harness
Not available, you will need to make your own.

Total for OEM steps = $4555.05 and you still need to make your harness and figure out how to hook it up and make it work.

It might actually be cheaper and less hassle to take all the aftermarket parts off you truck and trade it in for a Platinum with the power steps!
