Which would be better, glossifier or a matte clear coat?

It depends. Matte clear isn't going to do anything for your finish, so if you are doing matte black than you don't need the matte clear, but if you want it to shine use the glossifier. It won't have a clear coat finish, but it will still have a little shine. I prefer the glossifier.

Where did you read that the matte clear gives it more strength? It's the same as adding another layer of matte black, and since your already using something with a matte finish why spend more money on something else with a matte finish. They advertise the matte clear on dip your car.com as a way to give your car a clear matte finish.

Do whatever you want all I know is I wouldn't go through the trouble of pulling apart an emblem to spray it with plastidip.

I don't know if that is what I'm going to stick with. I have already painted it and the paint chipped so I am trying Plasti dip to see how it looks. I might end up with some overlays, but I already have the Plasti dip so there is nothing gained or lost by trying it. In the future I would watch how your wording things. Plasti dip makes a matte clear finish so that is what we thought you were talking about.

Well I was happy with the finish on the chrome so I peeled it and am redoing it. I can tell you that you have to start at a corner to peel. You can't just scratch it in the middle to get it going. That stuff is pretty durable.
