No offence taken there irub.... I googled ruby red with black rim . Never thought of specifying pdip rims instead. Thx for the pic. Looks sweet. My truck has chrome rims, bumpers and running boards. I wonder what all that chrome would look like dipped.

If you PD your wheels and want that clear coat glossy look, use Turtle Wax Tire Coat on the PD. It's safe, lasts months.

PS it's great on tires too!

Does that have silicon in it?

I don't think so, its seems to be safe for the PD. Found out about it reading through a how-to/review over on DYC forums.

they look awesome GriffFX4! Is that just PD only on your rims? Any clear or gloss over them. I gotta get some of this stuff.

Yep, Anthracite Grey (5 coats), + Glossifier (4 coats), though I did not apply the Glossifier correctly so it's more satin than gloss.

After doing mine I read you should do 1 light coat and the coats after should be heavy to the point in almost runs. I just coated mine as normal.

Now, using Turtle Wax Black Tire coat makes them look like a clear coat is on them. It's a temporary gloss for a month or two but it's cheap and easy to apply.

has anyone plasti dipped their stock steel wheels on a 09-present and have a pic? I like the stock color, but the wheels are starting to rust(just a little) around the cut outs. Will the DP be alright around the PD?

I have the 20" FX4 rims PD'd on my 2012.
The picture in the driveway was 20 mins after finishing. Same with the close up. The one on the street is a week after. Once it cures it has a nice rubbery feel. Not tacky. I've had them PD'd for about 6 months now. They've been through a ton of wand washes and scrubs. Held up strong. I took a garbage bag and covered the brakes completely and did it with the wheel on. Way easier. About 8 coats per wheel. 5 cans.
Any other questions let me know!

Wheels, bumpers and exhaust tips...formerly a chromed-out Lariat. If nothing else it convinced me that going with black aftermarket wheels will fit the look.

Tires, wheels and fog lights next!
