I took the lights off and taped around the inside. Spray it on thick on the first coat and take the tape off before it dries.

Hi all. Never thought or heard of using plasti-dip on car parts before now but I'm loving the results. I have a question - I have a 95 Camaro for my summer toy that has polished aluminum 5 spoke rims. I've been thinking about doing the spokes with the plasti-dip and leaving the polished lip but I don't want to ruin my rims. How difficult is this stuff to remove if I don't like it? Will it affect the underlying polished aluminum? Thanks!

Super easy to remove. The more coats you put on, the easier it is to peel off. Look back at the first pages of this thread. Make sure you prep them right.

Anyone with a candy red or ruby red XLT and have dipped their stock rims? I've been trolling through the 200+ pages of this post but haven't seen that look yet. I love the look of the ruby fx4 with black rims so I'm thinking about blacking out mine.
thx

Did you try googling "ruby red f150 plastidip rims" or some variance of such?

Yeah. Found this:

FYI, I meant no harsh tone or rudeness in my reply, it reads kinda rude, but it isn't intended to be taken that way.

Does your XLT have the chrome bumpers and grill? If you actually do PD your rims, please post a pic. I have a Ruby Red XLT with chrome bumpers and grill and I would lie to see what it looks like.

Ruby Red would look awesome with PD Anthracite Grey wheels.

Here are mine.

BTW, I came across some tricks for anything PD'd.

If you don't want the rubbery, tacky feel and don't want light surface scratches on you PD (like of you use your fingernail to scratch) to show use a spray wax like Turtle Wax ICE to smooth out the feel of the PD.

If you PD your wheels and want that clear coat glossy look, use Turtle Wax Tire Coat on the PD. It's safe, lasts months.

PS it's great on tires too!
