Are you experienced "dippers" doing any kind of surface prep before spraying?

I have tried dipping my emblems twice only to have poor adhesion the first time and excessive peel the second time. What the hell am I doing wrong? Emblems should be simple!

I appreciate any tips you are willing to share.

Just wiped mine down with isopropyl alcohol, taped off and sprayed. Stuck great for me. I did emblems and bumpers this way. Put about 4 coats on the emblems and probably 6-7 on bumpers. No chipping or peeling or anything.

Make sure light first coat then after that layer them up and you should be good.

Thanks Guys!

I don't believe that dyc ships to Canada and our Canadian equivalent does not stock the pre-spray. They suggest dish soap and warm water but I knew there had to be other options.

Did my emblems too. Just alcohol then tape off and spray. You need 5-6 coats though to get a good coverage.

He didn't use Plastidip on his lights, he used the VHT Spray Tint.

50/50 Isopropyl Alcohol & Distilled Water and let it completely dry.

Clean anything you dip really well first with soap and water. Let it dry and follow it up with isopropyl alcohol and microfiber cloth wipe down and you should not have any problems.

Looking to PlastiDIp my 2012 F150. Can someone tell me how many cans I should buy. Do I need the pre-spay and the other spay nozzle? Dipping the 2 Bumpers, Grille, and Emblems.
Thanks in advance!

On my other truck i did all my emblems, 2 bumpers and i used about 6 1/2 cans total.

About 1 1/2 for emblems (side, tailgate, and both ford ovals)

The rest for the bumpers. I did a lot of coats on the bumpers to avoid rocks chipping it.

My grill was already black so i didn't need any for that.

Id get 8 if i had to do the grill too.
