Default Pistol Holster Mount

Saw a threat on this forum awhile back regarding pistol/rifle mounts so I thought i'd share my newly installed mount.

Used the Blackhawk SERPA quick release mounts with the hardware provided and bolted it to the removable plastic trim down by my right leg. The holster is a left handed Blackhawk holster.

I used a hacksaw blade to remove the plastic lip on the security/release button on the inside of the holster so i can remove the pistol without having to engage the release lever. The lever is still present, but it no longer functions.

Overall, the mount is sturdy. Unless I were to quickly try to unholster the weapon and yank it out to the side, there shouldn't be any issues with pulling the plastic trim off during unholstering.

I did almost the same thing and it works well. What I did was mount it on the passenger side of the flow through console, I can still reach it no problem and if my wife is with me she can reach it if the need arises. Both of us have our CCP and are proficient with the XD 40.

I like it. I did almost the same thing on my car. After that, I mounted two magazine pouches adjacent to my right calf.

The gun in the holster in this shot is a little Sig Mosquito .22. Used for testing and weight purposes. The normal carry is a Sig P229 .40.

Wouldnt this require you to reach across with your left hand to draw the pistol from the holster? Seems awkward functionally.

Me? No. I. Use my right. Picture makes it hard to see but it's offset slightly to the right. If I had purchased a holster just for this, I would have used a right handed hosted but I had a spare lefty drop holster Laying around so I used it instead.

I like the set up but that's a left handed Serpa holster... How do you hit the release button when your drawing the pistol with your RIGHT hand??

Default Pistol Holster Mount

I used the same holster, but mounted mine to the seat frame under my right leg. Not near as noticeable when you open the door and more of a natural draw.

I modified the catch so it doesn't snap in place. It now just rocks back but has no detent. Use my thumb to push it forward. It ain't the most natural feeling in the world but it works for me... and it was free and a few minutes labor.

I figured you had disabled the catch "click" that's really nice! I'd like something like that for my XDS .45 but maybe under the steering column. Nice mod Lenn. :thumbs up:
