I also have the Yakima rack with the Q122 towers. Mine is installed correctly OVER the weather stripping. It rubs the door minimally but the kit comes with pads to protect the door paint. Double check all of your measurements to insure a correct fit of the clips and towers. I have 78" bars and carry two kayaks and a canoe frequently in the summer months. No problems at all. Good luck!

Well...
I put the clips OVER the weatherstrip and when I closed the door the top bulged out - yes the door - the top of the door!! Holy F....!!
I put the clips under the ws and trimmed the ridges on the inside of the ws.
Everything fits well now.

Oh...

Yeah...

I forgot to take pics...

Anybody want to see? or shall we just move on?

Barry V, I am going to try that.
Sea kayaks don't catch much wind. kayaks I just tie to the rack. Canoes are another story. I'm a big believer in tying both ends. In my previous post rear ties going to bed tie downs came after the picture. Front ties seen are to custom fender brackets. Didn't use gunwale brackets for years but prefer them for the canoe, particularly in gusty cross winds.

The Old Town Canadiane weighs 67 pounds and the CLC kayaks run just under 40 pounds each. Yakima said my rack is rated for two boats to 150 lbs total.

I'm interested in seeing how you solved installing clips under the weather seal. Never have really liked squashing mine.

It is not solved. The weatherstrip does fit better - and one side fits better than the other.
I trimmed off the two beads that slip over the metal lip.

Next thing to do;
I am going to file or grind down the edge of the clip that goes under the metal lip. In the first 2 pics you can see that the clip does not sit back against the metal lip.
I am also going to sharpen the last bend so that the end of the clip points upward rather than horizontally.
