Pics of Yakima Rack on Cab Please - Help!
Could someone please post close up pics of the Q Clips mounted on a cab roof?
It would be nice to see the clip with the weatherstrip pulled away too.
I was trying to mount my Half Pack bar today and I really don't like the way the clips fit. I don't know if I even got the right ones. The weatherstrip seems to be pushed way too far down and away from the lip that it is supposed to slip onto.
There is nothing in the instructions about trimming the strip. It looks like I could trim it to fit better.

that looks like its gonna be a problem if it rains. I was thinking of getting a roof rack but after seeing this and hearing of a few other guys with thule racks having a problem with their doors hitting the clip Im thinking im gonna abandon that idea.

There used to be a thread with a few people with these, you could try and ask them for help. HK is probably gonna have a hard time getting pictures because of how high his truck is LOL. I thought about doing a roof rack with a permanent track but it's got to wait because it would make all parking garages impossible

I have a Yakima rack that holds 4 bikes which I am installing over the bed when we go camping. It is ideal for that purpose, as it leaves the bed for firewood and other stuff, yet I don't have to lift the bikes quite as high as if the carrier was on the roof top.
Would that be an option for you? It would completely avoid these problems. I can see a travel trailer in the background of your first picture, so I am assuming you are trying to use the rack for the same or a similar purpose?

Don't have any at this time. Will take some when we go camping for the first time this year.
Below is an old picture with only one bike (and one extra bike holder) on my Tacoma (traded that in for the F-150). It will give you an idea. I am using the same rack, added bike holders for 4 bikes total, and had to use different grabs of course.
But the picture will give you the idea. It works great, I transferred and adjusted everything to the F-150 a couple weeks ago, but forgot to take pictures. I am glad I did not cut the cross bars when the rack was on the Tacoma - as I first planned on doing, as now the cross bars are still perfect for the bigger truck.

Had the same problem
I couldn't get Q towers to fit either. Until a retired friend who use to sell/install these dropped by. He laughed 'cause I was trying to fit them under the weather-seal. In just a couple minutes they were re-adjusted to fit over the weather-seal, (see second pic detail below).
Have several thousand miles now hauling kayaks and a canoe with no problems. (Leaving them on for several weeks at a time doesn't seem to hurt the gasket either).
