Here's my 2011 XLT Scab Ecoboost, it did have the chrome package haha.
Did a black two tone(with front bumper yet to be done), tow mirrors, tinted tail lights fairly dark, tinted head lights just a tad, took off XTR 4x4 stickers and ecoboost badges, painted rear f150 badge red and black with side badges still being painted. Grille has been painted semi gloss black, the surround will be painted to match soon along with all three door handles going PTM as well.

Another shot of mine. Somewhat plain but i'm slowly adding to it.
HD heads and tails, mud flaps, blinker/mirror mod, tint, Beststop step, stubby antenna. Next I would really like to get rid of the chrome side step/rails and go with
black there. I don't mind the chrome on grill and bumpers.

It's a rubberized rocker guard, just taped it off, scuffed the paint to give it something to stick to and away i went. But no for what a shop wants to do it, I just did it myself(im no expert at autobody, but have been around it most of my life). I have between 100-150$ into everything I needed to do the two tone. As far as the FX style grille, I took mine off and scuffed and painted it black for now and will be getting ingot silver made up to paint the outter surround PTM alogn with the door handles.. Really wasn't that bad, and if your on a budget or just want to give it a try, go for it! Unless you can find a take off from someone else's truck in the same color as your truck, painting it yourself is easiest but thats just mho
