Default Picked Up 2013 XLT Last Night

Hello all; I'm new here and guess what? I got my new ride last night!

What a sweet truck so far; I'm very pleased. It's a Supercrew 157" wheelbase 6.5 bed with a 5.0 V8 engine. I got the 302 equipment package and the chrome is looking good. Also got the tailgate step. Only wish I could have found my options in a Blue Flame truck that came with 20" wheels as stock. Mine came with 18's. Oh well.

I traded in an F150 FX4. On that one you could turn off the guidelines in the back up camera, but apparently on the 2013 XLT you cannot as they are fixed, which is disappointing to me as I prefer no guidelines when viewing the display.

Will be looking forward to reading about other XLT owners experiences and modifications as well as suggestions for a cat back dual rear out exhaust system. But right now I just want to get out of work and go drive my new truck.

Do you like the 6.5 ft bed better than the 5.5 I'm assuming you had on the FX?

Jbar1972:

I'm thrilled with the 6.5 bed and 157 wheelbase. The FX4 was 5.5 145 which is why I got the XLT. Same engines and so far it appears I'll be getting the same miles per gallon.

Do you have the camera display on your mirror or the nav screen?

I've had 18s on my lariat and now 20s on my platinum. I prefer the 18s. More comfortable ride, smaller turning radius.

Sure ya can... Mine came with them off. I prefer to have them so I went through the menus and turned them on for me. So...that being said, I know you can turn them on, so I only assume you can turn them off.

Go through the system setup. I just kinda stumbled across it.

As soon as I noticed that they were on I tabbed through menu options and tried to get them to stay off. Every time I click on "Off" and hit OK when I go back to verify the setting it still displays "Fixed" as my setting. I tried 4 or 5 times and they won't shut off.

I did a Google search and checked the manual which said mirror displays with standard consoles are fixed and the guidelines cannot be shut off.

I even asked my salesman who said they couldn't be switched off, although he was unaware that they could be turned off on my 2012 FX4.

So one of us is wrong or else I have a software glitch.
