Try waiting 30 seconds instead of jumping in and starting the truck.

Ok.. So I'm chiming in here.. I have a new-to-me '13 with a "thing" that happened today that I couldn't solve. I had driven the truck several times today w/o issue.. In the late afternoon, I parked it in my front yard, and I recall pressing the lock button twice and heard the horn briefly beep. A few hours later I was going to go to a meeting and walked out, I thought I hit the unlock button, opened the drivers door (I think?) and the alarm goes off.. and off and off and off.. It WOULDNT shut off! I pressed all the buttons on the remote -- nothing. I tried to start the truck.. Nothing.. the screen on the dash (the navi screen) was flashing and whatnot.. The horn is soo annoying.. I'm lucky my neighbors didn't come out and threaten me! Anyway, it eventually calmed down and I tried opening the drivers door and it started up again. I eventually, let it re-set without issue and went into the engine compartment (I opened the hood) and disconnected the battery. That's where it's at right now. I'm clueless.. I've NEVER owned a vehicle before that when you accidentally tripped it, that you could NOT disable the alarm with a remote. Ugg..

I saw in another thread talking about disabling parts of it via the Forscan method -- not sure if that applies to the '13s or not.. as it was written in the 15+ subforum.. Luckily I've got a backup vehicle that is .. ummm.. predictable in this area..

Is it the case that IF I press the lock button on the key fob twice that the "alarm" behavior is different than if pressed once? I want to know these idiosyncrasies if possible.. Thanks in advance!

Pressing Lock twice doesn't do anything except the short honk you got. To shut off the alarm, use the red panic button on the remote. You could have a nearly dead battery in the keyfob causing it to work poorly, or you could have something wrong in the truck. Simple check would be to verify all the connections to the BCM. If you are using Forscan, re-program all your keys, make 2 master keys to make sure they are working properly. Since it is new to you, you don't really know what the key arrangement is.

Thanks.. I think I’ll disable the horn first to ensure that I don’t annoy the neighbors should my experiments not go as hoped.. but will have to look into the keyfob batteries.. I’ve got two keys, one has worked better than the other and I’ve been wondering for a bit if something was up.. maybe I’ll just spring for a pair of batteries... I didn’t know I could reprogram them using FORScan... im still learning here.. never EVER had a vehicle with any programmability like this one.. crazy!

im also gonna check the main truck battery as I read what the obd2 sensor was seeing for battery voltage while driving and it was only 12.84v which is rather low for a running engine imho...

That's ridiculously low. Mine usually reads high 14s. Search for threads about the BMS. Many people have disconnected the sensor near the battery because of poor performance of Ford's loadshed system. But also, it's 5 years old, could be time for a new battery.

I just measured the voltage and its 12.70 without the positive connected -- rock solid at 12.7. Once I get to wiring the battery back up I'll run it and measure with my volt meter instead of asking the BMS what it sees.. I trust a meter more.. lol.. Thanks! I did check the battery on one of my remotes and the 3V CR2032 showed 3.067V so apparently not an issue there. The terminals were a bit dirty though -- I gently cleaned them..
