Default Painting chrome bumpers

Anybody know how to paint the chrome bumpers on our f150's? Went to 3 shops in my area and all of them said paint doesn't stick to chrome. Really want my bumpers painted to match but I don't want to lay down some serious cash for new ones if I can just paint the ones I have now.

As far as I know they would have to be stripped of the chrome and then be prepped and painted. Then you have the issue of stone chips on the paint.

When I had my 06 F150 I had the bumpers painted. The body shop sandblasted the chrome off and painted them.

This...I have had prices quoted in the $300 range to do both the front and rear.

When I rhino lined mine all I did was scuff it with sandpaper and I just sprayed the chrome. Although the berliner probably stuck a little better than straight paint will.

Yeah, I don't see what the problem is, but for sure don't go back to the tards you talked to who said they couldn't do it.
Remove chrome through generous application of abrasive (sandpaper, sand blast... etc, primer, then paint/bedline.

Please, let us all know how it turns out.

I've painted polished stainless with no problems, don't know why chrome couldn't be painted. You have to scuff the hell out of it to get the paint to stick, spray a good etching primer and then top coat. The polished surface will make the paint super smooth.

i just bought the rustoleum spray bedliner, self etching primer, and a rough scuff wheel.

scuffed the bumper so it wasnt shiney. sprayed with self etching primer, then sprayed with bed liner. total cost was about 100 bucks as the bedliners were $8 a can.

So long as you prep the bumper properly, you shouldn't have to worry about "stone chips" more than any other vehicle out there since the majority come with painted bumpers from the factory.

My recommendation would be to strip the chrome entirely, but you could try @flamehead16's suggestion...
