Painted Edges on Taillights looks very clean and easy to do!

There probably are different shades. The paint I got from the hobby shop is slightly lighter than the black paint on my truck.
Unless you're looking at it closely and looking for it, nobody will ever notice. I do notice the unpainted FX4 tails all the time on the road.

You can buy tuxedo black if it must match exactly. Otherwise, as stated, it's doubtful anyone will notice. What they will notice is when they aren't painted.

Got it thanks. But isn't it the other way around, you don't notice when something is stock and you do notice when something was tastefully modded? If no one's going to notice my tails w/ the edge painted black, I don't want to do it! Lol JK

So I just got my Harley lights in and started this project and feel like I've found a better way to do this. If you go out and buy a paint from hobby lobby like this
And pour it into the crack and let it full saturate everything so you don't have to worry about the glue and painting around it, since it will work its way into the cracks. So far so good
Then just use a flat thin paint brush to work it into any spots it didn't saturate. You can see in the last pic there's a few spots I need to do still

I don't have an answer, but it's definitely a good question.
Every manufacturer has their own black when you look at the rack of those touch up paints, that I'm sure are the same in every parts store.

Long shot but has anyone used a color like this? If so please post pics
Im thinking of doing a mix of dark gray and black. Some pics I see like post #771, the border looks too dark compared to the OEM black surface inside the lens. Some blending wouldnt hurt

I did this mod myself. I bought the paint from Michaels and a syringe from CVS. I used a basketball needle for the syringe. I cut it on my grinder at an angle. This needle had internal threads so I screwed it on.
I used a chip brush to help spread the paint and used 3 coats.
To help get the paint where it didn't want to spread, I used an air hose with a nozzle and carefully blew the paint around. I did not dilute.
I have the sterling grey and I should have done this mod the moment I bought the truck. Changes the appearance greatly for $3.50.

Well that was a *****, but its finally done. The RTV bead will have to wait till next weekend as I ran out of time. I'm so glad I mixed a bit of gray with the black. Straight black is just too dark for the application. This is around 5-6 parts black to 1 part light grey. It matches up much better with the black on the lamps IMO.
