I have an Oxford White FX4, that came with black handles, I called Tasca Ford and got '08 Lincoln truck door handles, pre-painted with chrome strap. For all five handles, with keypad, it cost me about $575 shipped. Costly? Yup, but it's the look I was going for.

Materials used:
300-800 grit sandpaper
Dupli-color adhesion promoter
Dupli-color Oxford White
Dupli-color hi-gloss clear coat

Removing the handles is easy. Take them off for ease of sanding. Tape off the handle pull portion. Sand away until all texture is removed. The more you sand, the better the final product will be. Getting the bottom portion of the bucket is difficult.

Overall I think they turned out good. They got progressively better as I went around. 3 coats of each step and dry time in between.

I think I spent around ~$40-60 for all materials. Take your time with the sanding and each paint step and they will look good.

Step 1: Remove the inner door paneling ~4-5 screws in various places.
Step 2: Removal of the bucket housing ~3 screws
Step 3: Pull out bucket housing and twist upwards to remove from handle pull

I removed all the door handles to sand and paint besides the drivers door. That one was a pain so I just masked around and sanded/painted on the truck. Removing is much easier as you can put more pressuure into sanding and paint is less likely to run.

I'll try to find the youtube video of the bucket removal.

Thats what some people have told me, but i think it would still look good! It would flow with the black from the mirrors and the black rail caps. Plus u dont have to worry about scratching the heck out of the painted bucket which is inevitable

Tasca told me the ptm handles do not come painted, just smooth black plastic. The ford dealership told me the same thing. So someone is obviously lying to me here....

Sounds right to me. They will come in black or grey primered. Ready for paint. The black textured handles are not designed to be painted, as they are raw plastic that may have a release agent in them. You can paint them, but they are a little more labor intensive...as many people before me have said.
