I have about 100 bux in materials(clay kit, wax, 845, soap and new towels) and about 6 hours of hand running and elbow grease. I'm getting a buffer with a polishing pad to do the collonite again. It's like franks red hot sauce, I put that **** on everything.

I have a Porter Cable 7424 random orbit polisher. I bought it years ago and it's been replaced by a more expensive model (XP?). No chance to burn the clear coat/paint with this polisher. You definitely want a random orbit polisher and not a cheaper one that just rotates.

I applied NuFinish by hand and it took less than an hour. Waxing takes much more effort (which is why I don't do it).

The Dewalt is fine too as long as you know how to use it properly. If not, you run the risk of burning thru your paint to the metal. There's very little to no chance with a random orbit polisher. There are some really good youtube videos on how to polish your vehicle with a polisher if you're worried.

I'm not trying to scare anyone and it's pretty hard to burn thru paint but it can happen. Just like it's impossible to burn thru the paint with the 7424 unless you have an agressive rubbing compound and you run it in the same place for an hour.

One of my all time favorite videos showing how safe the dual action polisher is:

Yeah, I've used my 7424 only a few times but was always amazed at the finished product.

The first time I used it, I was wondering why it was so slow and that it would take just as long as by hand until I found the speed dial (it was on 1 of 6). Cranked it up to 6 and it was much better .

I did alot of research looking for a permanent/semi-permanent sealant coating & checked out products like Aquartz but decided to go with Optimum Opticoat. I had a professional detailer apply it & it cost less than the dealer version.

That was 2 years ago & it is still holding up excellently on my Harley.

There is a newer version out now called Optimum Opticoat 2.0.
