I am not sure how to deal with this. After reading this forum, I was very careful three weeks ago, when picking up my new F 150. I went over the paint job, and found several defects. I pointed them out to the dealer and he put it on a We owe paper, that it would be fixed. Well, One of the major defects is on the passenger side drip rail, the paint is all bubbled up, right on the seam sealer. After having my truck for four days, they call me to tell me that the body guy is afraid to touch it, it may cause leaks and he would have repaint the whole roof. So it was not touched. What do i do? the manager and service man wants to talk to me about it? I am not happy. What is the next course of action? I paid 46000 for this truck.

They need to make it right somehow. They either need to paint the entire roof like mentioned or come up with some sort of solutions. I don't see why they are concerned it would cause leaks. He is not going to drill it out, he is just going to paint it. Take this higher up the ladder if they won't work with you. Remember though, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Good luck, I'm sure they will take care of you.

$46k for a Lariat? You got screwed. I had pain issues with mine too. They refused to fix the bubbles in the sealant.

It is getting so bad that you really need to refuse to accept anything but a perfect vehicle, anymore. They like to say "we will fix it" all the time, but when the time comes, they change their mind and say "that is normal".

My next truck will be gone over for a good 30 minutes before I will accept it as my own. My truck had a burn hole repair in the seat that I didn't notice until I got it home. My wife pointed it out and when I took it back they said that I must have done it. I don't even smoke! WTF!. I called corporate Ford and they said they have no control over what the dealership does. What a bunch of horse ****! I will not go through that again. It will be perfect or they can keep it!

I've had three f150s in the past 4 years and they've all looked like that. One was worse than the other two. I spoke to several body shops and the dealership about it and I wasn't willing to compromise the factory paint to have it ground down and repainted. It was explained to me that there is a weld along that seam and they're not always smooth. I never look up there anyway unless I'm washing it.

My advice, don't worry about it. My 2010 probably has the same issue but in 3 years I've never noticed it because I'm not 8 feet tall. Enjoy the new truck, don't sweat the small stuff. Should it be perfect? Yes. Is it going to affect your life the way it is? Only if you let it. Just drive it, man. Life is too short to get your shorts in a bunch over something that in the long run means nothing.

Na thats just the seam. No sense in having a drip rail flawless. As long as the clear isnt coming off Id leave it alone. Look under your doors those arent perfect either.
