Default P0770 - Shift Solenoid "E"

Had my truck throw this code today.
I was coasting to a stop and it down shifted really hard and then the wrench and CEL came on.
I managed to limp it home but the truck would not shift out of third gear.

I noticed another member had this code and Ford fixed it with a software upgrade.
Hopefully mine's that easy!

Anyone else have this code thrown before?

Regards,
sgtMeowsteen

Haven't had the code, but I found this looking around.

Thanks!

I saw something very similar to that as well.
I had my brother who's a mechanic look at it and he said the transmission fluid was a little low.
He topped it up and said he couldn't find any leaks.
It drove fine after that, but threw the code again this evening.

Going to call Ford in the morning.

Ford got back to me yesterday.
They said it's getting stuck in 3rd gear and have to change the wiring harness for the transmission.
Thankfully its still under warranty.

Well now they're replacing the valve body on the transmission, which controls the shift points.

It was the valve body.
They replaced that this morning and it's driving better than before.

That's awesome to hear, sgtMeowsteen. I'll be here if you have any questions in the future.
