Default Overseas order 2011 FX4 SCREW; arrived with.... 52 MILES?!?! WTF

Hey everyone, first post... I ordered a 2011 FX4 SCREW while deployed to Afghanistan, completed financing one month prior to returning home and picking up the truck. When I received the truck it had been at the dealership for 13 days and had 52 miles on it. I asked a couple of salesmen why the vehicle had so many miles on it since it came straight to the dealer from the factory and no one could give me any answer (of course they wouldn't). I am currently under the impression that the vehicle leaves the factory via train/truck, and is delivered un-driven to the dealer. Is this correct? I believe that it was used as a demo and am not too happy since I was looking forward to putting the first few miles on my first new truck. Anyone that I could push a complaint too? I mean, if it was used to demo the vehicle after I purchased it; this is definitely an violation of business ethics.

Thanks for your help.

Others will chime in but here goes for me. I picked up my 2011 Screw EB Lariat that I ordered and it had less than 8 miles on it. The dealer made a point to even tell me that it would have less than a dozen on it and that when it came in they would not even pull it around front until I let them know I was coming to get it. But,,,, they had several Eco's on the lot for others to do demo rides. On an ordered truck, others driving it should be off limits, even the dealer salesmen, finance guys, manager etc.
I'm thinking it was some folks at the dealership that thought owner would not care too much. Looks like you did, and rightfully so.

Some are selected randomly at the plant, they usually put 40-80 miles on them for quality assurance. They would have however had a sticker next to the window sticker if that was the case. Most dealers remove them when they clean it up for delivery

I could understand being a bit upset having 52 miles on your new truck, but really it is only 52 miles. There is nothing to my knowledge that says a new vehicle shall have only XXX amount of miles upon delivery. The factory may have had an issue with your particular truck prior to shipping which could account for some of those miles. Maybe the dealer is telling the truth and really doesn't know why there are 52 and not say 5-15...then again could have been a salesman who figured hey, why not take that truck for a test drive...its just sitting here!

Doubt a complaint to the dealer or to Ford is going to get you anywhere. Personally I would focus on the positive and enjoy your new ride and your first new vehicle but that's just me. You should do what you feel is best for you.

Honestly, if your truck is perfect and nothing of note wrong, since it's EXACTLY what you want, is 52 miles a big deal? I'm not saying you shouldn't be upset but for me personally, it wouldn't be worth walking away from IMO. Maybe it was one randomly selected so you should even feel great that it got an extra "going over"! Anyway, welcome and congrats!!!!

got mine a month ago and to my supprise it had 372 miles on it. It was a 5 dealer trade and got driven to each dealership. Bummed... Yes I bought a new truck and wanted it that way. I got over it quick cause it is a great truck. Plus I bought late in the year and my mileage will refect that on resale. Same for you I guess... all the looking on the net said no worries on mileage and I could do nothing about it anyway.....

I was annoyed myself when I saw 216 miles on the clock! I know the felling.

I found a truck I liked at another dealership and my dealer agreed to trailer it to their dealership. I showed up to pick the truck up and it had 250 miles on it, it had 13 miles on it when the deal was made. I asked them for more money off because they lied. They said no so I left it there. Got my current truck from a dealership 300 miles away shipped to my driveway. If 52 miles annoys you, ask them for free extended warranty or lifetime oil changes for free. I would have definitely been upset imagining salesmen flooring my ride to lunch or turning donuts in the parking lot.

Sorry didn't think you would notice, I was cruising around telling everyone it was my new truck. J/K lol. That is messed up sounds like they were using it for test drives, maybe yours had a package someone else was interested in.

My truck had 190km (120 miles) on it when I took delivery. The dealer had to get the truck from another dealer about 190km distant. Would I rather have had a truck with 0km on it? Sure. Did the 190km bother me? Not really.

But if it bothers you, it's important. The problem with 50 miles is that most people are going to say it's not a big deal, which will make it hard to resolve the issue to your satisfaction.
