Default Simple TPMS Question...

I have a 2011 F-150 STX that currently has the factory tires and wheels on.
I am ordering new tires and wheels from Mr. Wheel Deal and they are asking if I would like them to install aftermarket ones with my new tires and wheels...

Do I need these?
I do not care about having TPMS... I have eyes.

If i do not have them installed, will my dash light/alarm be going off all the time?
Is there anyway to work around this?

Thanks

I can only speak to my 2014 TPMS ... but I replaced my factory pirelli tires (38psi, give or take) with some 10 ply tires that go to 80psi max ... I had them aired up to 60psi and the TPMS was not alerting me to any problems.

I have heard that some sensors will alert you to under-inflation AND over-inflation ... but if mine do the over-inflation warning, I guess it has to be higher than 60psi.

Running my tires at 50psi right now, and no issues with the factory TPMS. Don't let them sell you something you don't need.

Without wheel sensors, the light will remain on all of the time. There is no way to turn it off either. TPMS is mandated by the government on all new vehicles sold.

If I get the new senors installed in my new wheels, will I have to get them re-calibrated by Ford? Or will they just automatically work?

You could make a TPMS bomb.

Why don't you just air the tires to what is prescribed on your vehicle? Unless you are towing something. Why subject yourself to an unusually harsh ride?

i have a 2012 FWIW

A few things, if you have no TPMS not only will you a light on the dash all the time it often also starts dinging and a big message pops up on the dash display next to the speedo, the light i could handle, the dinging and message got old for me....

So as for new sensors, i bought the ones on ebay that some others here have used (search i'm sure you will find the link) anyway i didnt have to do anything at all to get them to work I simply installed them in my summer rims and put the summer rims on the truck and i have yet to see a light or message related to TPMS. How the truck "learned" these new ones all on its own i have no idea as the manual clearly states a relearn procedure for new sensors.

It will be interesting in the fall to see if the truck "learns" the winter wheels with the OEM sensors back all on its own or not???

I too am wanting to order wheels/tires from Mr. Wheel Deal. I'm going back and forth over if I should buy from them or buy from Discount Tire. DT won't price match my wheel at Mr. WD's price (KMC Addict 20x9: Mr. WD = $172/wheel, DT = $225/wheel) but they did price match tires, TPMS, lugs, etc. (Nitto Terra Grapplers @P275/60/20 = $200/tire). Just feel comfortable to buy from a store front so I when I have a problem, I have someone to go to. The price difference is about $250 between the two...

I got my tires at discount I picked up a set of bfg rugged terrains. They are great! The are 275/60/20 as well and I got them priced to $175.00 a piece due to ntb getting me a quote on them. They to me like better than the terra grapplers

I have read tons of reviews on Mr. Wheel Deal, I was REAAAALLLY skeptical at first. No one would answer the phone, always someone different replying to my e-mail, etc.

But after lots of research I decided to go for it.
All of the payments are through Paypal, so there is the option to put in a claim.
