Default Our 3rd Brake Light... is hideous

The nasty chrome 3rd brake light looks terrible and out of place, especially on the FX2/FX4 with black accents. So what are my options besides a full replacement? Has anyone tinted it? How did it turn out?

Thats easy enough to fix. I plan on switching mine out when I swap the tail lights. Here are some products made by recon : http://www.gorecon.com/products.php?...tegory_key=all

Vht nightshades should do the trick. I hated the looks of the brake light too. Stuck out like a sore thumb. Not a very good pic but it'll give you an idea of how it looks.

Looks great, did you take the brake light completely out to do it? How hard was it?

Another vote for nite shades. Took my light out to tint it. Sprayed a few light coats and let it dry before putting it back in.

Don't sand it. Unless you want to remove any casting flaws/flash. Polish it first then SEM or duplicator prep spray. Couple of light coats then if it's too dark buff it down thinner so the light shines through like you want. 20 min job tops.

My prep was to wash the truck first. No sanding, no special cleaner. Just made sure the light was clean aand started spraying.

very simple to do. I took it off the truck. Cleaned it and sprayed a few light coats till I got it as dark as I wanted. Let it dry then I sprayed clear coat over it but I don't think you need to put clear coat but if I remember right mine was kinda dull looking so the clear made it look right. If you do use clear make sure it's a lacquer clear but I may be wrong.
