I cannot find exactly what I am looking for, so i think i am going to order a new truck. Does anyone have any experience with this? I am worried my trade will go down too much or the truck price will go up too much? Also, i dont know wether to get a 3.55 or 3.73? I will trailer very infrequently but when I do it could be a 7000 pound boat. Any suggestions are welcome!

I ordered my screw because I couldn't get the options I wanted. I ordered the max tow and a 3.73 rear end. With the 6 speed I am at 2000 rpm doing 75mph. I wouldn't want it geared any taller, especially if you are going to put 33" or larger tires. I also ordered it with the integrated brake controller, it was pretty cheap and you won't have to install an aftermarket one that you will hit your leg on forever.

I believe you need the max tow package for a 3.73

It was the only option I had for my Harley Davidson, but in my mind it's not even a question. The performance gains far outweigh the tiny bit of mileage you MIGHT be squeezing out of a lower ratio.

Go for the lower gear ratio !!

This is the only thing I miss on my current truck. My new 2014, will have the lowest ratio available installed.

And like the other member stated, when it is time to put taller tires on your vehicle, it will pay off !!!

My 2009 SC Lariat 4x4 has the 3.55 gears and it indicates 75MPH at 2000 RPM. It has the optional 20 inch rims with 275/55/20 tires. Rated to tow 9500.

I have nothing to tow, so no comments there.

Ok, but please remember, "shorter" gears are higher numerically, while "taller" gears are lower numerically. 3.73 is lower than the 3.55 in other words.

i have 3.55 with 5.4 and it handles 18ft boat fine as well as tandem trailer with small tractor on it. i think is has plenty of pulling power.
