Open Source Sync

I find it funny any other Bluetooth system I've ever used hasn't had an issue with the iPhone. One would think they could manufacture something reliable for all products. Maybe they should quit using Microsoft and let Apple be their platform so everyone can suffer.

Sync works great for me... If Apple designed it then you would still have dropped signal when you touched the steering wheel on the wrong spot and would likely be charged every time you used it. lol

Had sync on 2 trucks now; an '11 and a '13... No issues with my iPhones at all, other then the lack of SMS support, but that's Apple's fault, not Ford.
Bluetooth for both calls and music work great, same for USB connected...

I have dropped calls all the time lately with my iPhone and sync. only seems to happen when it's really cold outside and the truck's interior isn't warmed up yet, like the first 15 minutes of driving in the winter. not sure if that's related somehow?

Please, no! If Apple had their greedy fingers in it we'd be told exactly what we could do, the voice response would be Steve Jobs telling us how great he is every time we ask for a command and it would charge us $$ every time we wanted to use a new feature
It works fine for me but I don't own an iThingy and never will.

I have both iPhone and and an Android. Both connect fine at the same time and they don't drop. What I particularly don't like about it how it relies on the phone's memory to have the quick dials, call history, etc. It is not easy to choose which phone to choose, makes wrong calls using voice command without giving you the option to approve, address book is not available while driving and goes on.
Then, the GPS of course... Whoever designed that user interface should not go out public to admit to it. POI portions should have been named POS. Try to find an auto dealership other then Ford/Mazda, good luck, it does not exist.
This is not my only vehicle with Sync/Nav so I know it can/should be. This one is a POS as a package with so much left to be desired. Now, the third party developers might help to improve it hopefully.

I had Sync with MFT in my 2011 Explorer, now in my 2012 F150 I just have plain ole sync. The regular Sync is not perfect, but is much more stable that MFT. The problem with the MFT system is not the Microsoft platform it runs on, it's the abysmal Adobe Flash language it is written in. Flash is notorious for memory leaks and being slow. Even Adobe has end-of-lifed Flash. I do not believe that the MFT system will ever be worth a crap until they have a complete rewrite of the software on something other than Flash.
