My guess would be since they took this engine from the mustang they did as little re-engineering as possible in order to make it work in the F150. We all know when you try to re-engineer something, more times than not, you end up screwing everything up. Also, I noticed the engine itself sits really low in the engine bay when compared to my old 07 5.4L XLT. Not complaining about this one because it's definitely better for handling seeing it lowers the center of gravity. I bet in the next few years you'll see a change in the dipstick location but I believe Ford didn't want to screw a really good engine up and make it a flop when it was put in the F150.

With gear selector in D or M use the + or - switch on selector handle momentarily and all 6 transmission speeds show up on 4.2 inch multi-function screen.

Default "Checking Oil"

I don't plan to ever see an oil low light unless something breaks. I bet it doesn't tell you its low until at least a quart low, maybe more. You are doing your engine NO favors running around even slightly below the recommended level. Oil has a purpose and running less than recommended makes the existing oil work harder thus lessening it's life and exposing your engine to potentially higher temperatures and less lubrication.

Go ahead and run your vehicle a quart low waiting for it to tell you to add oil. I'll keep mine full and healthy and I'd put money on it lasting longer than one always low but "within tolerance". Remind me not to buy your truck used.
I am on my 4th Ford Truck since 2002..I have never had to add oil between oil changes to any of them..I tend to check my oil once between changes. I have a 5.0 SCREW now and yes it is hard to get to dipstick..Oil fill spout is not easy to use either..I change my oil and it is the hardest to use I have had. But love my truck though!! Had Chevys bfore my first Ford in 2002 and will never have another Chevy again!

I am 5 11' myself and posted about this when I got my truck too:
https://www.f150forum.com/f70/5-0l-e...cation-102431/
Finding it posted a lot of places so we are not alone....

But I did find a way to get to it WITHOUT a step stool. You reach UNDER the air filter tubing and I can reach it, pull it out and put it back in with enough force to seal it. For the guy who suggested the hanger, that works to get it out but not to push it down all the way. Try my suggestion, it worked for me!

As far as sound, my sounds awesome but I have a KR with the Sony system. Yeah sure there is probably after market ones that blows this one but for me, it's one of the better ones I've had for a factory stock unit.
