Which one: 5.0 vs 3.5EB ?
Considering one of two trucks. Both S-Crew Lariat 4x4.
#1 2011 5.0 with 3.55, 5.5' box MSRP $54000, can get for $40,000
#2 2012 3.5EB with 3.55, 6.5' box MSRP $57000, can get for $46,000
Programs are better on remaining 2011's, not as much on 2012 or Ecoboost's yet.
My previous 3.73 Ecoboost did me no favors in the mpg department, but I did like the power. As a daily driver for work, occassional towing, which would be the smarter purchase ?

How much will you be towing? weight? For daily driving and limited towing as you state I would probably suggest the 5.0. I was impressed driving the eco, but have not been reading good things over the past year from owners.

I'd say get the 5.0 since you weren't happy with the ecoboost before, didn't you start a thread ******* the ecoboost? just asking, because you should know the answer to your question, BTW what's wrong with your Chevy?

Not to derail but I am from Angelo, my wife is from Midland.

I just picked up my 3.5 ecoboost and while I like its decent power and refinement , I do find myself missing the sound of a v8. Since you've already had the ecoboost I'd say save money and go for the 5.0.

D-max is great, but I have been offered $5000 more than I paid for it! I do miss the newer technology in the F150 vs the 06 DMax.
I loved the Ecoboost, but hated its fuel economy - which I think was a combination of two things, the 3.73 ratio, and the chance mine was one of the few lemons. Its 15000 mile average was 14.6 mpg.
If I tow, a Side by side on a trailer, or two personal watercraft on a trailer. I will borrow a diesel from work when I have to move the 9000lb holiday trailer.
More than not, will be empty miles making sales calls. Hauling kids to/from events. 30-40,000km/year.
Oh... both these Lariat's have the 6 passenger seating which I really like for our family, and seeing as it is a rare find, I think I will act on one of them.
Yes... $6000 reasons is a lot of reasons! If the 5.0 gets as good of mileage, its advertised a little less at 17/27 city/hiway (mpg in the imperial gallon) and the ecoboost at 20/30 city/hiway.... although speaking from experience, mine was NO WHERE near that. But that behind me, YES I am willing to try again.
