That's an expensive leason about not using the wheels and tires to find the curbs. That can be hard on tire sidewalls.

Get it repaired and carry on. It's just a truck. Word of advice: don't let your wife/girlfriend drive it for awhile

I feel your pain, and have concern. Wife did considerable damage to rims and lower body trim on her previous car. It was always the "stupid curb's fault."

I did not get the wheel/tire insurance at check out.

There are wheel shops that specialize in wheel restoration. The rash can be sanded and reprinted. So you will be out a few hundred, then it will look fine again. If you wait until all the wheel rims get bunged up, and need tires, get new tires and refinished rims in any color at the same time.

How bad is the wheel? Are there chunks of aluminum missing in the scratch?

Watch your tires sidewall and check for bubbles. If you see a bubble you need to get a new tire ASAP.

Pretty sure this would fall under your comprehensive insurance coverage. With all the risks inherent to making a claim attached.

In the old days, there was no way you could scuff a rim on the curb. The tires stuck out past the rim enough to protect the rim. Most new wheel designs suck, in this regard.

While I understand your dismay, if this is all I had to worry about, I'd be pretty happy.

Congratulations. Now your truck is officially a used truck. It's worth nearly the same as if you hadn't marked the wheel.

Get it fixed and move on... at least it wasn't stolen.
