My OLM typically goes 7-8k. I run full Mobil 1 and Motor craft Filter. Most miles are highway

No you didn't waste money. I for one think the oil change intervals are far too long.
Not sure what motor you have but I for one am changing every 5000.

Also if you tow a lot or work the truck more than average (whatever that is) it is recommended that oil changes be done more frequently.

Funny how so many on here put so much faith in the OLM but don't trust the fuel mileage calculator one bit!

After I posted I did some research and found there's a difference in my 2010 OLM and the 2011+ models that have IOLM. Apparently the regular OLM (like mine) simply counts down miles (7,500). Whereas the IOLM calculates your driving habits, strain on the engine, temperature, etc.

What did the dealership say when you called them and asked if they had changed the oil? Makes no sense to dump new oil.

You might eyeball the filter. If it's grimy then they probably didn't change the oil.

I haven't called them (yet). The included "here's what we did" pamphlet they gave us when we purchased it mentioned all the fluids and filters in their 125-point inspection. I'm not sure if "inspection" should be translated as changed or not. I'll be asking them shortly.

You'd have to prove those are the same people.

Nevermind. I missed that it was already posted.

Update: Called the dealership service department and they gave the mileage of when the oil was changed. It was 800 miles ago, they just didn't reset the OLM.

The newer IOLM uses time as a main factor. If you don't drive at all but let the truck sit a year it will say it needs an oil change.

Now why the hell didn’t I think of that?
