Well, the manual for my 2012 says this. It's interesting, because at 10,000 miles, mine still hadn't come on. I changed it at 7500 miles and didn't reset the monitor.....

Your vehicle is equipped with the Intelligent Oil Life Monitor™ (IOLM)
system which displays a message in the message center at the proper oil
change service interval; this interval may be up to one year or
10,000 miles (16,000 km). When ENGINE OIL CHANGE DUE or OIL
CHANGE REQUIRED appears in the message center display, it’s time for
an oil change; the oil change must be done within two weeks or
500 miles (800 km) of the ENGINE OIL CHANGE DUE or OIL CHANGE
REQUIRED message appearing.

The Intelligent Oil Life Monitor™ must be reset after each oil change; refer to the Instrument Cluster

If your message center is prematurely reset or becomes inoperative, you
should perform the oil change interval at six months or 5,000 miles
(8,000 km) from your last oil change. Never exceed one year or
10,000 miles (16,000 km) between oil change intervals.
Note:
Vehicles equipped with a 6.2L engine do not have an IOLM
system; refer to the 7,500 mile (12,000 km) maintenance schedule for oil
change service intervals

That's what I typically do and will be back home soon to take care of it. And for the person who asked it is in miles. At 7000 it's showing 44% left so the 15000 comment was a little bit of an exaggeration.

U should reset if only for warranty reasons. A record is stored in ECU. Sooner than later on changes is better.

Where did you hear that a record is stored in the ECU?

Add me to the 5000 mile club.

If you really want to know if your oil can go 10K get a UOA otherwise you are just speculating.

Yep. Since I haven't done auoa yet, 5000 miles is a nice safe round number!

That and I only drive about 7,000 per year so it's cheap.
