Default Oil Filter Wrench - 5.0 Engine

Does anyone know an exact model of oil filter wrench socket that will fit the Motorcraft oil filter for the 5.0? I'm looking for something that will fit on a 3/8 or 1/2 ratchet.

I'm going to have to get one and an extended funnel before my next oil change.

When you buy your next filter, carry it around to the wrenches and get the right one.
I have found that if I remove the air dam (2 bolts) I can easily get my hand on the filter and also clean the mess left behind. I find I do not need a wrench.

While you are at it install a Fumoto drain valve in place of your drain plug to make future oil change jobs easier. Cost about $30.

Why do you want a oil filter wrench?

The factory filters are always pretty tight but you really don't need a wrench. There is plenty of room in there to get your hand on it. Hand tight is plenty in my experience.

I like the Fumoto drain valves, work great, make it very easy and clean.

I like to use a zip-lock bag around the filter when removing.... NO MESS !!!

Exactly what I was thinking. A wrench may be needed for removing it since the engine heat might seize it a bit, but there is absolutely no need for a wrench when you put the filter on.

Do you just hold the Zip-lock up against the block until most of it drains out?
