Default Oil change warning light....

What drives this? I am guessing mileage. The problem is this... I use synthetic oil so if this goes every three or four thousand miles then am I destined to see this warning for three thousand miles every few months? Is there a way to manually reset it?
Thanks....

Its in your display info, on 2010 its default is 7500 miles, its easy to reset, though Ive never figured out how to change it to a different mileage yet, though I know you can. Guess ill have to RTFM!

Goes by mileage (since reset) and time. It should be reset every oil change unless you take it to a cheap place that doesnt bother.

Go to system set up (on the dash display).
Hold to set.
1st option is to reset Oil life.

Right ..... RTFM

and when you do that, you will see that you can DECREASE the oil change warning interval, but there is no provision for INCREASING it. It is programmed to track the manufacturer's suggested interval of 12 months or 7500 miles. Those owners who believe in changing their oil every 3000 can decrease the interval to 40% in order to get their timely warnings.

But if you are wanting to go more than 7500 miles between oil changes, I don't think there is a way to increase the warning interval.

****, i gotta do maths! I was hoping it would have miles not percents listed, haha! thanks for the info!

Also do you have to do that every time or will it stay at 60% if you set it there and then reset once it hits zero? anyone know?

It will stay there when you reset it. When you do reset it, don't hold the button in too long otherwise it will start to change again.

Hey guys I know this topic has been widely covered on here, the owners manual, and all over the internet, but my message center does not seem to operate the same way. I don't have the same buttons in any of the pictures or videos I've come accross. Have any of you had any luck resetting the engine oil change soon light with a steering wheel and dash configuration in my pictures attached?

Also as you can see, brand new here, I'll be updating my profile and introducing myself shortly! Great site, been reading for a couple of weeks.

The button is the little stalk in the instrument cluster. Same one in every car, it toggles between ODO, trip A, trip B, etc.

It's nothing to do with Sync, or steering wheel controls.
