Me 2. But I always heard it was "Don't sweat the petty stuff. (And don't pet the sweaty stuff.)"

Depends on the escort service. They all have different rules.

Ive done almost all my oil changes myself, now here I sit and cannot get the oil filter to screw on. Why did Ford have to put the filter sideways and so deep and buried by shields you cannot see whats going on.

Definitely going to factor in ease of oil changes in my next purchase.

**** you Ford!

As long as you don't over tighten the oil filter, it's not bad at all. Sure, you can't see what you're doing, but it's not horrible. It would be nice if it was like my girlfriend's 2011 Nissan Murano where it's near the wheel and you don't even have to crawl under the car or lift it any. 2005 Honda CRVs are the worst though.

This was a carry over design from using the DuraTec transverse mounting architecture that our engine is based. Don't guess there was any money in the budget to reconfigure the oil filter housing.

Its just as bad on the 5.0....which isnt difficult, its just extemely messy making it take 3x longer than it should. And it requires air dam removal which is ridiculous. Why would you design it so that oil pours out of the filter mount in 2 locations and creates a huge puddle that requires half a roll of paper towels to wipe up (blind)?
My 4.0 Ranger was a piece of cake

5.0:
It only pours out one side for me, rear if on jack stands, front if level. Maybe a couple drops out the other side, nothing major. Maybe you need to jack it up higher. I removed the lower air dam long ago for unrelated reasons. Does that really get in the way? Just did mine last weekend.

I lied in my original post - still doing them myself. Still not the easiest but has gotten easier over time. Still bites taking off all the belly pans to get get to drain plug and such. My sons 12 5.0 truck is much easier to deal with. My daughters 14' focus sucks as well, due to the belly pain removal too.
