I follow the monitor and use motorcraft oil and filter, seems to come on about 10k to 12k miles, I strongly think, to do a proper oil change on a ecoboost one has to do it himself and clean the mess it leaves behind, this truck's oil changes are the hardest that I have ever encountered. the oil filter placement baffles me everytime the little catch tray is a joke, it takes me longer to wipe down the oil than to actually change it, its one of the reasons I change my own oil the first few oil changes the dealer did,
nothing was wiped down the top of the skid plate looked like something off of a 20 year old combine, grimy oil everywhere the pad on top of the skid plate was saturated.

with today's fully synthetic oils, you CAN go quite a bit longer between oil changes if only basing this on the oil life. Where you have to pay more attention is the life of the filter. The filter will be due for a change before the oil will be, if you use just a run-of-the-mill filter. If you are using a fully synthetic or long-life oil, be sure to go ahead and get a long-life premium filter to 'match' your oil.

If you do both the fully synthetic and the premium filter, you'll be able to go 10-12K miles between changes, assuming you're not driving in seriously harsh conditions.

and while we're on the subject of filters, be it ecoboost or otherwise, remember to at least check (if not change) your air filter every 15K miles or so. Engines really do appreciate having an unrestricted clean air system.

I had this happen to me the last time I took my truck in for an oil change. Extremely disappointed. I only take it in for warranty purposes should anything happen its fully documented by Ford the routine maintenance/upkeep is in line. But due to the lack of knowledge/experience that the "ford certified" lube techs have doing the job, I'm doing it myself from now on. I can't trust anybody to work on my own vehicle when I'm fully capable of doing all the work myself.

I'm over **** about my truck. I change it every 3K. I also have a FilterMag. Oil changes only cost me $20 and every other oil change is Free so cost isn't a factor.

When I blow my motor in my 03, to much boost and not enough fuel I pulled it apart and the engine at 90K looked brand new, ZERO signs of wear, because of that I'll keep to my over **** 3K changes. I have done a black stone report and everything is below average as far as wear, they suggested I go 5K and resample but I still choose to go 3K.

I know that all of you that change your oil at 3,000 miles are much smarter than the engineers that built the truck, but changing that often also has an impact on the environment.

Less often won't hurt your truck but will surely increase the impact of all of that used oil on nature.

Using a high quality synthetic oil extends those oil changes. 3,000 mile oil changes are a thing of the past.

I change mine every 5k. Every 3k miles in these trucks just seems wasteful.

Conventional or synthetic? I am guessing for 20 bucks it is conventional? 3k is old school but it can't hurt. I am doing 5k synthetic changes in an 2013 eb. I do look at the monitor for curiosity sake but I do not let it dictate my oil changes. So far no fuel smell in the oil.
