Oh yes I did, and glad I did it!
So, most of you have seen that I installed the 2013 projector headlights on my 2009 F150 earlier this month.
While I liked the look, I found the light output lacking from them compared to my original headlamps with a set of 6000K HID bulbs in them. The light was more yellow due to the Kelvin rating of the bulbs which was expected, but it was more than I expected. While the pattern was much nicer and the cutoff was noticeably better, I still felt they were lacking. I decided to take the advice of tuxedoblack11 and bilinvic Retrofits from here on the site and followed their lead by upgrading my projectors. I was pretty nervous opening up a brand new set of the heads since it would be my first time trying a retrofit, but once they were opened up, the rest was pretty easy. It took a little reworking of the harness to make it all work right, but worth it in the end.
I went with the Hella EVOX-R Projectors, Morimoto 5five ballast, OSRAM 5000K CBI bulbs from http://www.theretrofitsource.com/
I also bought a set of the custom HID ballast block off plates from tuxedoblack11. While I had them apart, I tinted the reflectors, but it is hard to tell with the flash in this picture. If you look closely, you can see the small area where the bulb shines through is darker.
If you are disappointed about the output of the 2013 projector headlights, then this is the answer. All I can say is WOW there is a significant difference in the output now. Since it has been cold during most of my work I don’t have a lot of pictures, but from the outside you really can’t tell any difference until you turn them on.

I'm confused...you bought and paid for the 2013 projector setup which is big bucks and then basically when to a aftermarket retro fit projector setup? Could you have done that first and saved a grand or so on the 2013 set up?

I bought the 2013 OEM headlights complete with the OEM projectors, bulbs, ballast, etc. and then upgraded the projectors and bulbs. I needed the headlight housings in order to install the new projectors in. Sure, I could have retrofit my stock lights and saved some money, but wouldn't have the 2013 look.

OK..Now I understand...Can you order the housings separate and then do the upgrade to better projectors etc.. might save some coin. But Ford may be packaging these up as a unit to prevent just that.

I also follow tuxedoblack11 over on another forum and his post @ http://www.f150online.com/forums/200...assembled.html has a lot of very good information in it. The only remaining point is a little wiring change for the EVOX-R's and you are ready to go.
