Default OEM hitch

Anyone know what the cost would be to add a hitch to my truck? Any thoughts if OEM is better or aftermarket? I have a 2010 XLT SCREW. Did not get the package with it.

It's beyond me why Ford even builds Pick Up Trucks w/o hitches. Anyway, I don't think it matters whether you go with Ford OE or Aftermarket. I'm sure the Ford hitch is made by Reese or someone anyways.

+1 on aftermarket, although the Ford hitch is pretty good and unobtrusive.

I wonder if the vehicles that ship without a receiver are made to tow using the bumper? I'm not really a fan of that because one sharp turn, and the truck may have one completely shredded rear end.

I believe they are rated at 500 lbs for bumper.

I have used this place in the past.

A Curt hitch will run under $150. An OEM one will run around $250. I do prefer the cleaner look of the OEM hitch so I've been contemplating this one for a while now. I can't seem to find pics of a Curt hitch installed on a 09+ F-150. If you do, post 'em up!

The bumper is rated 5,000 pounds - at least, that's what the manual says. Mine has the holes for the ball but no rating on it since i have the factory equippped hitch.

I think you'd be flat nuts to pull 5,000 pounds with a bumper...

Really just depends on how you want it to look. Most of the OEM hitch hides behind the bumper, with only what you need showing. Most aftermarket hitches will have a straight bar that is entirely hanging below the bumper. If that doesn't bother you, go aftermarket, it'll probably be cheaper. If you like the sleeker look of the OEM, do it.
