Many thanks! That seems to work - at least within the 50' range, which is a big improvement for me. I'll give it a try at work tomorrow, where the range is about 150'.

It seems that 50' is a little short, may want to check antenna or batteries like previous poster sugested, that may help too!

My dealer has acknowledged that a problem exists and has already ordered replacement parts. See my earlier post, above. Your solution will get me through until the parts come in. Thanks again!

I was going to post the chin method as well and expected people to think I was nuts. It does work, I dont know how, or why, but it does extend the change a bit.

My uncle is the shop manager of my local GM dealer and he was the first one to tell me about this years ago when remote starts first became big. Thought I was nuts untill I started driving and tried it for myself.

Had the same problem with mine. I made the dealer replace the whole system and now it works from 1000' plus. Dealer acknowleged that there was a problem with the first unit.

Interesting. Like I said what is confusing to me is why the range would be less for starting than it is for locking the doors? Do you find that with the new unit if you can lock the doors you can start it? Makes no sense to me why that wouldn't be the case, but for me it isn't. Guess I'll see what the dealer says. I think I'll be content if remote stating has same range as operating the door locks.

lol - I love the chin-extension. My ex told me to try it and I ate my words when I found it actually worked.

Has anyone had any luck getting the started fixed or replaced? I have a range of 50ft give or take. Took it into the dealer and then compared it to another truck on the lot and they said they got double the range with the other truck. I doubt its my batterys as both remotes get the same range and the truck is only 3 weeks old.

However Ford or the company that makes the remote is saying the range is normal. Even at 100ft I think its a waste of time for the money.

Just wondering what everyone is getting for range with the factory install unit.
