OEM factory remote start range
I have the stock factory remote start in a 2011 FX4 SuperCrew. Every day when I leave work I try to start my truck. It doesn't start, but the door lock activates every time. Or at least the lights flash to indicate that the doors locked. In other words, I'm within range for the remote, but not the starting aspect of it. How can this be?!?!
I know how to operate the remote. Once I'm half way to the vehicle I can start it without a problem. But at that point I'm 15 seconds from arriving and there is almost no value. So why would the range be different for the lock button than the start button? Can anyone else confirm this range discrepancy, or maybe something is defective. Although that doesn't make much sense since other than the range everything is working as expected.

After you push the lock button, put the fob to your chin when you press the start button twice. I know... I know it shouldn't make any difference but it helps.
My 2011 F-150 remote start range is poor at best compared to the 2012 Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited which I started using the method above from inside and about 1,000 ft away.

That is the same problem I had with my factory installed one way unit, that is why i upgraded to the bi directional unit with 1000' range. It starts every time from inside the buildings we frequent.

I have the same problem: the range on the factory remote is horrible. Sometimes, especially when it's cold, it won't even start from 20' away. I even put new batteries in both key fobs - no help.
Dealer is following the procedures in the book and replacing the antenna module and if that doesn't work, then the TPMS module that the remote plugs into. Hopefully that works, or I'm upgrading to the 200 series, even though I like the IKT. I need a remote start that works when it's cold out.

Lock has a much longer range. Holding it up vertical near your head does seem to help.
