Odometer inaccuracy and MPG calc.
Took a trip with my new Screw, 5.0L 3.55 with factory 20"s this weekend. On the interstate I checked the odometer over 10 mile markers and then checked the odometer against a hand held Garmin GPS.
In both cases the truck under reported the miles driven from 2.6% to 3%. This inaccuracy it also seems would under report the MPG by a similar amount.
This turns out to be from .4 to .6 mpg in the mpg range that my 5.0 was delivering.
Doesn't bother me that it is under reporting miles driven and makes my smile wider realizing that my MPG might be higher than I had thought assuming the lie-o-meter was accurate.
Hand calculated test next.
