Default OBDII Dongle for Android

Last Thursday I received my OBDII bluetooth dongle from China:
Name: Dacia_OBD_002.jpg
Views: 1386
Size: 29.9 KB
I picked it up for about $25 shipped from lxdstation on ebay.

This thing is awesome. It pairs right up to you Android phone (I assume iPhone too), and doesn't interfere with Sync (you can use both at once).

Thanks to a $5 app called Torque (http://market.android.com/details?id...=search_result), you can see tons of info about the truck. (I think there's a free version too)

- Check / clear error codes.
- Show fuel economy
- View engine telemetry (RPMs, speed, throttle %, acceleration g forces, coolant temp, boost pressure, intake temp, intake pressure, trans temp, voltage).
- Track your 1/4 mile and 1/8 mile times.
- Track 0-60mph / 0-100kph times
- Track horsepower and torque output.
- Check fuel level
- trip odometer

Its a really cool little app, it lets you set up 7 different 'dashboards' that you can drag and drop different guages and graphs onto. You can also set a custom background.

$25? WHAT?!?

I've been trying to find one cheaper than $120!

There's an iPhone app called Rev that I've been oogling over, but I didn't want to drop the $40 on the app, and then another $120 on a damn adapter... Rev does the standard OBDII codes, all the engine parameters, and so on and so forth, and can track and record them real time, measure your HP and Torque, a hole slew of things

I have to do some research and see if it'll connect to this dongle thanks for the post!

Wow that is really weird. I was just looking at the scantool version of this the other day after finding the Torque app. I was getting hung up on the $150 price for the "Dongle".
$25 bucks won't even require an approval from the the fun police. I have a co-worker going to China for a few weeks this weekend. Maybe I'll see if he can get one shipped to the office over there.

How long have you had it? I assume you can use the app to log your trips?

I've been using it for about a week now. You can use it for some trip monitoring stuff. There is a trip distance widget that will show the mileage of your current trip, the fuel widgets lets you see your fuel consumption. There is also an 'eco warrior' screen that I haven't used yet, but it seems like its a social networking component that lets you challenge other drivers to getting the best mileage... lol

Here's a more complete list of the measurements available: http://torque-bhp.com/wiki/Dials

Very interesting. Was hoping we would have one of these for the droid. All i seen is an I-phone one. Gonna have to keep an eye on how this holds up a little longer and then i might snag one.
