I work in a body shop and we have an outside alloy rim repair guy "fix" rims. The paint color is never right and it chips and flakes off over time especially when you have new tires mounted thats why he does it wit the tire mounted and balanced. But even he wont fix gouged rims. Impossible to get the alloy weight and texture right and if they are cracked and not seen that could kill someone. I definitely recommend replacement unless you want to pocket some cash and have them refinished yourself and keep the extra. Thats your choice not theirs. I would choose my words carefully to them and record the conversation. You need to get them to outright admit responsibility or offer to buff or repair which is of itself an admittion. If you go in and act like a jerk they will step back and give you the bird. Talk to the tech and say something like everyone makes mistakes and make him addmit so even if the manager or owner says no you have the tech on tape.

A ford dealer scratched mine bad rotating/balancing the tires. I made them get me new ones. Some jack $$ used a big screw driver to pop off the covers. It sucks I know. Hope that they resolve it to your satisfaction.

My favorite is when the "tire tech" leaves the clamp on wheel weights to spin around and scratch everything.

There are plenty of places out there that can fix wheels and they will be good as new and never able to tell they were damaged.

There is a place here in TX called Wheels America that i have sent everything from $150 or so dollar wheels all the way up to $2000-$4000 per wheel HRE, ADV.1, Kineses, CCW, etc and they have been able to flawlessly fix each and every one of them.

I even had a chrome wheel on my Supra that I sent them that was literally flat on one side. So flat and squared off that you could sit the wheel on an incline and it would stay right where it was. They were even able to fix that and match the finish.

These places charge about $150 or so per wheel to fix and Discount and NTB, etc will always opt to use them first. They won't authorize replacing a wheel for such a minimal amount of damage that could easily be repaired.

Best of luck to you though. NTB has always treated me and family very well in general and has honored any problem or issue we have had with them and made sure we were taken care of.

After the work was completed, I paid and left. It was dark so I didn't' get a good look at them in the parking lot. I drove to the gas station, and while pumping, I noticed that all of my rims have a concentric ring around them. Some places are worse than others. I immediately drive back to NTB and ask to talk to the manager. "Oh, he's not here, I'll have him call you tomorrow."

11 am today and still no call. I then called and asked to speak with the manager. The person who answered had cashed me out the night before and knew why I was calling.

The manager then said that they would repair them after he was able to see the rims in person. But wouldn't be able to see them until Saturday because he gets off work every day at 5. What a JAG!!!

Refinishing these rims will NOT make them like new. Some chips are over 1/32" deep. I told him that and he paused then said, "well I have to see them first. we can probably fix them.

There is no way I'm going to let them TRY and refinish them. I looked on FordParts.com and found that my stock rims come in at $382.33 each. I'm going to ask that they give me the money for 4 new factory rims, or ones of equal or lesser value.

They also f'ed up my alignment. The steering wheel is not centered while the truck is going straight.

Just wanted to give everyone a warning to NOT go to NTB.

I will give an update once the issue is resolved.

I had the 3 year alignment program with them, and in a little over 18 months they bought me two new wheels due to scratching and chipping with the alignment heads. They don't do anything you ask them to; even though they have large windows to watch them through. I've had 3 alignments on a prior truck and always had to go back at least once, 2 times it was twice to return to get the steering wheel straight.

It took 3 months to get 1 wheel replaced and 2 months to get the other replaced. The 'right person' is never there, out today, home sick etc. Ended up raising hell with their home office in Florida to get things rolling.

I demanded the prorated refund on my program and NEVER NEVER will darken their doorway.

Wheels are an easy fix I used to bring in wheel repairs all the time those would run about 85/ea to fix and you would never know they were damaged. If you actually did get brand new wheels expect them to keep the old ones as the Ford house will want the old wheels back as cores so they can repair and resell!

NTB is awful and discount tire is great from whoever said they weren't. Never had a single problem with discount, just have to find some good techs who take pride on their work

Yep, that's what I told them as I used to do it for a living. The manager said it wasn't their fault-I called him out on that. Then the new rim they got me was scratched when mounted AGAIN. I can't believe tire techs can't mount tires on stock rims...... My new rim is in again and I have to go pick it up tomorrow.
